For the last time...
My dear Kayla,
Mommy just put you to bed for the last time here in Norway while you were still 2 years old. When we come back from your birthday trip, you will be the big 3 years old! As I rocked you in the chair that once rocked you to sleep as a baby, I could not help but feel overwhelmed with thanks to God for blessing me with you. I prayed that God would continue to cover you and keep you safe and healthy. We said our prayer and after a quiet Amen, you gently said to me, Good night best friend, a phrase which I have grown to love and every time I hear it, my heart breaks. I scratched your back for a bit as you drifted off to sleep, and your final words to me where Good night Mommy.
You are sound asleep right now but the music is still playing as you drift off to dream about puppy dogs, daffodils and seeing your Grandma and Papa for your birthday!
We have really become so close...truly, best friends! We made some incredible memories here. Ones that will last me a lifetime! I am so happy you stayed home with me and did not go to school, it would have made my days so very lonely. Instead, we grew together! We grew closer, more in love and we learned from each other a great deal. There were days it was hard for me here in Norway but your joy, your smile and presence in my life helped me get through. When your Daddy would travel, it was our time together that helped me so much.
Good night sweet princess. This past year here in Norway has been a dream for me.
